Through psychotherapy, we usually become aware of what has been cast out of consciousness – in other words, of what we have not yet let ourselves know. Healing is associated with allowing what has been repressed, rejected, denied, or ignored to come forward so that we can understand it, explore its significance, and integrate it into our consciousness.
As a therapist, I use empathy, acceptance, warmth and responsiveness to foster a connection that invites people to learn more about their emotions, process their interpersonal experiences, and reconsolidate memories. Through therapy, people can feel better about who they are. They can also become more confident in understanding and communicating their emotions, and setting boundaries with respect to their needs.
My psychotherapy practice involves meeting once a week - or more if needed. Some people come for only a few sessions. Others see me for months, or even years. I prefer to work long-term with people so that they can learn not only to manage their symptoms but also to build emotional resilience and a long-term increased sense of fulfillment and attunement with self and others.
I work with individual adults and children, couples, families, and groups, and see clients experiencing a broad range of concerns, including but not limited to issues of:
Life Transitions
Depression
Grief and Loss
Anxiety and Panic
Spiritual and existential concerns
Trauma, including sexual abuse and assault
Divorce and Separation
Relationship Concerns
Perinatal Loss, Fertility Issues, Post Partum support
LGBTQ Issues
